The Laboratory of Ethnomusicology and Cultural Anthropology provides high-quality educational and research services, aiming to promote knowledge, education, and innovation. The modern facilities and operational methods of the Laboratory make it a flexible and effective entity for managing demanding scientific projects in the fields of ethnomusicology and cultural anthropology.<\/p>\n<\/div>
In the Research and Training Unit of the Laboratory, programs of basic and applied research are implemented with a central focus on the use of the ethnographic method in areas where ethnomusicology traditionally specializes (organology, collection of musical material, music recording and analysis, comparative analysis, repertoire, musical maps, genealogies of musicians, musical idioms, musical typology, etc.), as well as in other areas such as historical ethnomusicology and the ethnomusicology of urban, folk, and popular music. Additionally, the Unit implements programs in the field of cultural anthropology with focuses on the anthropology of music (social relations, cultural identities, gender, cultural systems of music and sound composition, soundscapes, intercultural music exchanges or relations, music and globalization, popular music culture, etc.), the anthropology of dance, and visual anthropology (ethnographic film, documentary, anthropology of media). In the Research and Training Unit, training seminars are conducted in the context of applied ethnomusicology, on subjects such as ethnomusicology and music education, cultural anthropology, intercultural education, cultural management, etc., which are aimed at educators of all levels, scientists and researchers in related fields, cultural organizations, foundations, institutes, etc.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
The Archives and Digital Curration Unit collects, preserves and currates multiple data of primary research. The collections are digitized and a corresponding research bibliography as well as thematic databases are developed. According to its statutory objectives, the unit is planned to include a collection of music instruments and scores, an archive of music performance and oral testimonies, a photographic archive, a video library containing film material of ethnomusicological, anthropological, folklore and historical interest, as well as a specialized record and film library for the sole purpose of research and teaching.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
Within the framework of the Publications and Scientific-Artistic Events Unit, the production of teaching and educational materials, translation, writing, and publishing of texts, as well as the organization of scientific workshops and conferences are planned.
